XXX BOF - programme!

Dear Music Lovers, we are pleased to present the program of the 30th Bydgoszcz Opera Festival, to which we cordially invite you from April 20 to May 5, 2024. Please note that ticket sales for festival performances at the Opera box office and online will start on March 11 (Monday) from 8.30. 

During the XXX BOF we will present 7 performances, hosting teams of excellent theaters from Poland, Lithuania, Monaco, France and Ukraine. In line with many years of tradition, the Festival will open with the premiere of Opera Nova - this time it will be a true masterpiece - opera buffa "Don Pasquale" by Gaetano Donizetti, directed by Paweł Szkotak. Fans of the musical - and the band Republika - will certainly be interested in the play "Kombinat", directed by Wojciech Kościelniak, with immortalized songs by Grzegorz Ciechowski, performed by the amazing artists from Poznań Musical Theater. 

Opera lovers will be electrified by the announcement of Massenet's "Manon", a true pearl of French opera, which will be performed on our stage by the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater in Vilnius (exceptionally at 6:30 p.m.!). 

Lviv National Opera will bring to Bydgoszcz a Polish-Ukrainian production of "Turandot" by Giacomo Puccini, which celebrated the recent 120th anniversary of the local stage.

Our Festival Audience will also see the first Polish production of the eccentric comedy "The Excursions of Mr. Brouček" by Leoš Janáček, staged by one of the leading opera directors - David Pountney, which will be performed by the Grand Theater in Poznań shortly after their premiere. 

The performance "Folia", choreographed by Mourad Merzouka, promises to be an extremely interesting show, combining early music (performed by the leading group of the French baroque scene, Le Concert de l'Hostel Dieu), ballet and... hip-hop danced by La Compagnie Käfig! 

The beautiful culmination of the anniversary edition of our Festival will be the exceptionally beautiful ballet "Romeo and Juliet" - the all-time favorite story of lovers told anew from an original perspective, choreographed by Jean-Christophe Maillot and performed by the leading company of the Monte Carlo Ballet. 

We would like to remind our dear music lovers that the operas are performed in their original languages, translations of the librettos into Polish will be displayed on an electronic reader above the stage.
