The 1st Bogdan Paprocki International Opera Singers' Competition will take place from 16th to 23rd November 2025 at Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, the second-largest opera house in Poland. The organisers are the Feliks Nowowiejski Music Academy in Bydgoszcz, Opera Nova, and the Bogdan Paprocki Association. This will be the first international vocal competition of such a high level in northern Poland – featuring three stages and a final round with an orchestra.
For the jury, we have recruited some of the foremost authorities on Polish singing – artists who have proven their artistry on the world’s greatest opera stages. Our invitation has been accepted by Ewa Vesin, Agnieszka Rehlis, Tadeusz Szlenkier, Artur Ruciński, Rafał Siwek, and Magdalena Idzik, secretary on behalf of the Bogdan Paprocki Association.
In addition, the directors of all the opera houses in Poland have accepted the invitation to participate in the third stage of the jury’s deliberations. We hope that they will be able to select, from among the participants of the 1st Bogdan Paprocki International Opera Singers' Competition, the laureates truly worthy of our patron.
The prize pool for the competition is 150,000 PLN. The laureates will receive substantial cash prizes – six main prizes (three in each of two categories: female and male) along with distinctions. In addition, the directors invited to the third stage will sponsor prizes in the form of participation in opera performances. The competition programme features world opera literature with a special focus on the works of Polish composers.
The deadline for submissions is October 11, 2025. You are cordially invited!
