During the XXX Bydgoszcz Opera Festival - on April 23rd, 2024 - The Musical Theater in Poznań will present Wojciech Kościelniak's musical "Kombinat", hailed by the critics as one of the best musical performances in the country in recent decades. This is a must-see show not only for the fans of Grzegorz Ciechowski and the band Republika.

Przyjdź. Ta opowieść jest o nas wszystkich. Tych z przeszłości, z przyszłości i z chwili obecnej. To historia o walce jednostki z systemem, o wadze jej głosu i poszukiwaniu prawdy – czymkolwiek by nie była… To komentarz rzeczywistości, przestroga i szansa.

Możesz tę przestrogę zignorować. Nic się wtedy nie zmieni. Posady znanego Ci świata ani drgną. Będziesz nadal istniał. Krok za krokiem, dzień za dniem. Ty, a nad Tobą oni. Cicho, spokojnie, bezpiecznie. Znasz ten stan ducha, umysłu, ciała. Niby Twój, ale jakby… poza Tobą? Cisza dziwnie wygłusza, spokój obezwładnia, a bezpieczeństwo pozbawia sprawczości. Przyparty do muru uznasz, że gdzieś w głębi, zawsze wydawało Ci się to obce, ale tak naprawdę nigdy się nad tym nie zastanawiałeś, no bo dlaczego miałbyś? Skoro zawsze tak było, to znaczy, że tak jest dobrze. Tak musi być.

A co jeśli może być inaczej? Zatrzymaj się. Poczuj tę przestrogę, jej ciężar, chłód… Zastanów się. Wiesz, kim jesteś? Kim są oni? Wiesz, kto pozwolił im dojść do władzy? Kogo oni reprezentują i dlaczego decydują o Twoim życiu? Czy ono tak naprawdę jest Twoje? Czy Ty jesteś swój?

Come. This story is about all of us. Those from the past, the future and the present. It is a story about an individual's fight against the system, the importance of his voice and the search for truth - whatever it may be... It is a commentary on reality, a warning and an opportunity. 

You can ignore this warning. Nothing will change then. The foundations of the world you know will not budge. You will continue to exist. Step by step, day by day. You, and above you... THEY. Quietly, calmly, safely. You know this state of spirit, mind and body. Supposedly yours, but as if... apart from you? Silence is strangely deadening, peace is incapacitating, and security deprives one of agency. With your back against the wall, you'll realize that deep down, it always seemed alien to you, but you never really thought about it, because why would you? If it has always been this way, it means it is good. It must be so. 

What if it could be different? Take a pause. Feel this warning, its weight, its coldness... Think about it. Do you know who you are? Who are they? Do you know who allowed them to come to power? Who do they represent and why do they decide about your life? Is it really yours? Do you belong to yourself?

KOMBINAT shows the future. Futuristic, surreal and full of metaphors. It was inspired by the texts of Kafka, Orwell and Huxley, and its starting point was the music and lyrics of Citizen GC and Republika.

KOMBINAT pokazuje przyszłość. Futurystyczną, surrealistyczną i pełną metafor. Powstał z inspiracji tekstami Kafki, Orwella i Huxleya, a za punkt wyjścia przyjął muzykę i teksty Obywatela GC i Republiki.
